Feminist History

Mission

  1. To collect, document, publish and broadcast histories of grassroots British feminism- from the Women’s Liberation Movement to now-  in a wide range of media formats.
  2. To use skill-shares, free schools, training days, and publications to train ourselves and others in feminist history and becoming feminist historians.
  3. To work in liaison with libraries, archives, networks, schools and the media to recover and promote feminist history.

Current Projects

Compiling a chronology of grassroots feminist history from 1980 to the present day, made accessible through the FAF website. We are meeting the 3rd Saturday of each month at the Feminist Library (5 Westminster Bridge Road, London SE1 7XW) 1-5pm to do research for this project (The library is open from 11am). Please come join us! Next meeting is 21 March.

Suggestions for events/publications/groups etc to be added to the chronology can be sent to history@feministactivistforum.org.uk.

We are also planning to put together a feminist history zine for autumn 2009. More details about this coming soon. Again, email history@feministactivistforum.org.uk if you would like to get involved.
